Chronology of cameras Hemax
The Hemax variations are very numerous, and the names in the catalogs are not constant ...
This specimen is top of the range for aesthetics with its tan leatherette and bellows and its cracked paint in the same colour .
Technically it is very good , with its amazing vertical shift by micrometric screw and its very handy focusing by " eccentric " down to one meter. The wooden housing also seems a bit archaic , especially considering that Hemax had filed a patent for an all-metal construction. it also proudly carries the brand " Hemax " on the camera bed.
But optical equipment is low: A small Darlot (No. 40193 ) opening only to 6.3 at 135 mm
The shutter does not even have a name, just the classic three speeds at the time, with the time and double time exposure . It shall be nevertheless noted a strong resemblance with the shutter "The Newest"dated 1914 by G. Gregoire .
